The Hop:  Hands On Pianos   http://hop.dartmouth.edu/featured/piano-project

Kicking off the Hop’s 50th-anniversary season, Hands On Pianos is modeled after other “street piano” projects in cities around the world. The Hop’s version involves 50 instruments; most of them “heavily loved” donated pianos that will be transformed into eye-catching marvels by local artists.  The project will also include a handful of “partner pianos” already in place in schools, community centers and businesses willing to make them available to all comers.

At Dartmouth, we have cultivated an environment that nurtures, encourages, and values creativity. We recruit gifted faculty whose love of teaching and artistic talents stimulate students to discover and develop their potential. We bring to campus celebrated artists to perform, to talk about their professions, and to share the lessons they have learned. The arts are integral to our liberal arts curriculum, and we encourage students of all majors to explore them through the many courses and programs we offer.
