Summer 2012 Department of State Internship Program The application for the Summer 2012 Department of State Internship Program has been extended to November 7th. Interested qualified students are encouraged to submit their application by the new deadline of Monday, November 7th. Individuals who have already submitted an application will be able to update, edit, and resubmit their application until the new closing date. 2. CIA'S NATIONAL CLANDESTINE SERVICE (NCS) INFO SESSION November 8th (Tuesday), 7PM, Carson Hall, L02
The CIA's National Clandestine Service (NCS) is on the leading edge of American Intelligence. 3. Earthjustice, Policy and Legislation (PAL) Internship Earthjustice is a nonprofit environmental law firm working to protect public health and the environment by defending our nation's environmental laws including the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act. Through this internship, the candidate will work with the Policy and Legislation department. Policy and Legislation (PAL) is comprised of environmental lobbyists and advocates who work with members of Congress as well as other environmental groups to protect and strengthen the same environmental laws Earthjustice defends in the courtroom. 4. Internships at the Department of Commerce The mission of the Department of Commerce (DOC) Internship Program is to engage and empower developing leaders with a passion for public service. The program will expose students to opportunities in the Federal Government and the potential to find passion in a career in public service. Interns will gain unique experience though their placement in one of several DOC offices. The DOC Internship Program accepts applications on a rolling basis. This is an unpaid opportunity. Candidates must be available for the duration of the program to be considered for placement. Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in public policy, governmental affairs, public affairs, business and/or community engagement. 5. National Security Agency (NSA), Summer Language Program- Deadline: November 15th The National Security Agency offers foreign language students the opportunity to sharpen their language skills to a professional level through the Summer Language Program, an intensive 12-week intern program intended for high-potential college upperclassman and graduate students. As apprentices to senior NSA language analysts, interns gain intensive experience exploiting communications for vital intelligence missions and have the unique opportunity for multi-dimensional and cross-disciplinary growth in analytical skills. The Summer Language Program is currently hiring students studying Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Pashto, Persian/Farsi, Russian, and Urdu. 6. Fellows Program at the Institute of Politics - Harvard University The Fellows Program at the Institute of Politics (IOP) is a cornerstone of Institute life and the only program of its kind at Harvard University or anywhere else. An IOP Fellowship offers the rare opportunity for professionals in politics and public service to spend a semester at Harvard sharing their experiences with students and exploring important public issues with a distinguished group of their peers. With a strong emphasis on student-Fellow interaction, the Fellows Program provides six positions each semester to elected officials, high-ranking government officials, foreign dignitaries, campaign leaders, policy makers, political journalists and other key participants in the political process.

7. Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Summer Internship Program The student intern program at USTR is a year-round, volunteer program in which undergraduate and graduate students gain knowledge and experience on U.S. trade policy. Assignments may include research, analysis, statistics, coordination of briefing books, report preparation, meeting and conference planning, letter writing, and covering meetings, hearings, and/or legislative markups. 10. Rocky's Management and Leadership Development Program (MLDP)- Application Deadline: Friday November 4th MLDP focuses on management and leadership principles common to corporate, public, and not-for-profit sectors, enhancing participants' knowledge, experience, and competency through weekly evening classes. These weekly sessions, led by guest speakers, cover targeted capacities related to leadership theory; differences between management and leadership; public speaking and communication; persuasive writing; problem solving, decision making and negotiation; analytical and critical thinking; facilitation; program management; and business etiquette. Common themes of global leadership, cultural competence, ethics, and public policy unite the sessions.
